Peanut Butter ‘n Blueberryz Mini Bakes

21 May

What can I say about Zuke’s that hasn’t been mentioned by another satisfied customer?

At five calories per biscuit, it’s one of the few treats Oscar can enjoy without sabotaging his diet!

Zuke’s Mini Bakes are available in three distinct flavors—chicken ‘n cherryz, peanut butter ‘n blueberryz and turkey ‘n taterz—but I decided on the peanut butter and blueberry combo. Can’t go wrong with peanut butter coupled with a shot of blueberries for an extra boost of antioxidants!

There are so many things I love about Zuke’s:

  • I can pronounce all the ingredients! Ground oats, rice bran, peanut butter, blueberries, potatoes, oat fiber, blackstrap molasses (possible pirate name?), oil blend (sunflower, olive and canola oils) and natural vegetable flavors.
  • The amount of biscuits per box. A one-pound box contains more than 325 biscuits at 5 calories each! Break them in half and you have twice as many goodies that are perfect for training (or dieting dogs).
  • The treats are devoid of wheat, corn, artificial colors, flavors, added fat or by-products. Now that’s wholesome goodness!
  • Zuke’s cares about our planet. Every box of Zuke’s is made with 100% recycled paperboard and 100% wind energy.
  • Zuke’s gives back. Zuke’s donates a portion of every sale to The Dog & Cat Cancer Fund. Last year’s donation was over $30,000!

And the best thing about the Mini Bakes…

  • Oscar loves them! Well, Oscar loves anything edible, but he goes gaga over these treats. I’m sure he doesn’t realize they’re only 5 calories a bite!

Ooo I like how small these are, and they sound like wonderful holistic treats! These may be a new winner in Evee’s book, especially if Oscar gives them 2 paws up 🙂

He’d put up all four paws if it didn’t mean toppling over!

This is the first time I’m hearing of Zuke’s. Thanks for sharing! I, too, like the size of these treats—just perfect for Maple. By the way, is Oscar on a reduced calorie diet? *chuckle, chuckle* I’ve always thought he looks a little robust, but presumed it was just his natural build. He’s a cutie 😀

Oscar is a bit robust, but he started packing on the pounds ever since he was neutered! His metabolism hasn’t been the same since the procedure, but that just means more exercise and less food (much to Oscar’s dismay). I’ve cut his diet by 10% the first few weeks, then 15% when he started to plateau. I didn’t want to restrict treats, so I found Zuke’s! Yummy low calorie treats that I won’t regret giving him and he won’t regret eating. 😀

I’ve never heard of these before, but then I guess they’re not available on the UK market. They do sound and look good, though…And Oscar can enjoy the odd one now and then, which must help making the diet more bearable 😉

So glad to hear that Oscar likes these – we’re huge fans of Zuke’s and have been wanting to try a box of these for awhile. It’s so comforting when you know exactly what you’re feeding them – and that you can pronounce it all!

    They’re also perfectly Oscar/Gus-sized. 😀

Oscar does wish the Mini Bakes were a bit bigger. An Oscar-sized treat that he finds suitable would be a treat the size of his head!

They sound great! I’ll have to look for them here. 5 calories each? Do they make them for humans?? LOL Chocolate, please! 😀

    • Oscar & Pauline May 23, 2011 at 9:07 pm #

Zuke’s should make a separate line of treats just for humans! I’d totally buy a couple of boxes for myself to enjoy. 😛

    Hey Oscar,

They have 325 in each box!? Wow, that would keep me going for nearly a year, cos Mum’s really tight when it comes to treats, I’d better explain the low cal bit to her!

    Your buddy Snoopy 🙂
