A Very Oscar Update

9 Jul

Please accept our sincerest apologies for disappearing from the blogging scene—the combination of summer fun, holiday weekends and stifling heat deals a mighty one-two punch!

First, a few thank yous are in order:

  • Much love to our friends at Yuki the Dog for the Inspiration Award and at Just Ramblin’ for the Genuine Blogger Award! These awards have been sitting pretty in our pockets for ages, but we didn’t have the time to address this honor until now. We’re thrilled to be in the company of bloggers we love and admire.
  • Enthusiastic licks to our friends at Roxy the Traveling Dog for hosting Tasman’s Natural Pet’s bison chews giveaway! Oscar was one of five lucky pups who won rawhide chips or twists. Yum!

Since we’ve been MIA for over a week, I’ll use this post as a news brief on the wonderful world of Oscar.

  • On Independence Day: No offense to the Founding Fathers, but the Fourth of July is Oscar’s least favorite holiday. It’s not the barbecue or cookouts he despises, it’s the fireworks. In our neighborhood, unfortunately, the fireworks celebration encompasses three days to include the days before and after the Fourth. Let’s just say Oscar was not a happy camper.
  • On beating the heat: We’re meeting the summer heat head-on with chilled drinks, fruit smoothies and salads topped with sun-dried tomatoes. Oscar’s enjoying the crunch of watermelon and the coolness of ice on his tongue. The heat hasn’t phased his appetite one bit.
  • On weight loss: Oscar’s getting so confident he’ll reach his target weight before summer’s end that he’s told me to shop for his bow tie collar now. Watch out Chippendales: You better have a routine prepared for Oscah Baby. 😉
  • On Twitter: Believe it or not, Twitter’s fun! We’re still very much new to Twitter, but we’re having so much fun interacting with our blogging friends. If you’d like to follow us, check out our page here.

Lastly, to our blogging friends: We heart you! Thank you for being so patient. Happy summer!

Sounds like you have been a busy pup too. We have been as well. You are more than welcome for the Genuine Blogger Award. You deserve it! As for fireworks, we are right there with you. The food and fun are great, but the fireworks cause so much stress for so many pups. : (

    Hey Oscar,
I’ve read you’ve been working on your body, sounds like you just might want a job in the male-dog modeling world 😉

We’ve been off vacationing so are still trying to catch up. Fireworks can be a real problem. So many doggies hate them. Storm could sleep through a nuclear blast, but Thunder gets a bit concerned with too many. We went up to our cabin and one thing about being out in the middle of nowhere….no fireworks!

Oscar is never far from turtle, is he? 🙂

Oscar we don’t like those loud fireworks either and we are still hearing them every night until midnight or after. Sounds like you are handling summer quite well with the chilled drinks and smoothies. We have been having watermelon too. Chancy smacks when he gets a taste of that good cold watermelon. Hugs and nose kisses

I know exactly what you mean. I should do a catch up post as well. Thanks for the update. Happy Saturday Blog hop!
    Congrats on your awards.

I’ve been busy and away from blogging too! There’s so much going on in the summertime. Glad to hear about the summer fun and the holidays – not so much about the stifling heat though. Oscar doesn’t do too well in the heat either – I’ve never seen him lie down on a walk until a couple of weeks ago! Like your Oscar though, our Oscar’s appetite hasn’t been affected in the slightest. Funny.

Sleeping outside? be careful, you don’t want to catch cold 😉
Welcome back Oscar and Pauline xoxo

It’s great to see you back! We’ve missed Oscar’s handsome face. Everything slows down in the summer – we’re only blogging a couple times a week and even other sites I maintain for clients have far fewer visitors. Gotta get all those outdoor activities in whenever the heat lets up enough to let us breath! 😉 (PS~ We’re expecting over 100 degrees today between the heat and humidity – not an outdoor day for us….)

Do you like the bison chews? We love them. Summers are for fun anyway, taking a break is expected, and I think required.

No worries, you and Oscar aren’t the only ones who have gone on a summer break! I’ve been lagging behind, as well. Hopefully I can get one post published this week… It sounds like you guys are on the right track, though, with an activity-filled summer! And I can’t wait to see Oscar in a bow tie (LOL) 😉

We feel you!! We have been so behind in blogging … guess summer will do that to you 🙂

    Hey Oscar,

Glad to see you’re having lots of fun this summer, plus your diet is doing so well, can’t wait to see you in your bow tie! 🙂 Just make sure it’s not pink Buddy! Tee Hee

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

Oscar, I know you’re enjoying the summer weather where you’re at. However, some of us have a different in the summer. It’s hot, humid, which is bad enough but summer brings mosquitos in squadrons. Sand fleas in numbers that makes the national debt pale to significance. So, Oscar, me and my human give thanks for AC during July & August.
